SSB Weather

Hi All,
We will be cruising the lower Exumas and SE Bahamas in June. Can anyone direct me to a resource for SSB frequencies and schedules for weather broadcasts.
Thank You!

  1. The information you requested can be found in the Explorer Chartbooks, which you should have onboard your boat.

  2. Chris Parker covers the Bahamas Monday through Saturday on 4045 and 8137. Typically starts at 6:30 AM and can be later depending on how long the Eastern Caribbean portion of his morning broadcast lasts. See http://www.mwxc.com for more details. Everyone can listen. Questions are via subscription which is well worth it, especially when troubling weather arrives.

  3. Carolyn Wardle has a SSB weather net out of Nassau each morning. I believe the time is 7:20. I’m not on my boat at present so best to get the details from her: cwardle@batelnet.bs. They give the Bahamas and Florida forecast and also accept weather reports from boaters. I’d encourage you to obtain a simple weather device and participate as the number of reporting stations gets pretty thin in summer.
