Howdy folks and Merry Christmas Eve!
We are in Texas now. Left our SV at Bayshore Marina in Nassau for the holiday. we return on 12-31. We are a family of 4 with 5 and 6 year old girls on a 50 Privilege Cat. New to live aboard cruising (month 3).
Curiosities and recommendations:
1) we dropped the hook in old fort bay (Charlottesville bay) on the way in - it was very nice with sandy bottom for days and plenty deep enough - are there any restaurants on this bay to dinghy to? Thought it would be nice to have a nice to have a nice dinner on land on NYE. Would also like the girls to see fireworks. Does that side of Nassau have a firework display?Perhaps we drop hook south of paradise In all the hustle/bustle?
2) we have friends flying into Nassau on 1-5-22 to do the “Atlantis thing” for a couple days. where would you recommend we go from 1-1 to 1-5? Follow up - after we are done with Atlantis on 1-7 our friends are staying with us through 1-12. we are ultimately heading to the Exumas but brain says head to Eleuthera while we are up here. Thoughts on a 4-5 day itinerary from 1-7 to 1-12? the friends will take a puddle jumper plane back to nasssau from wherever we end up on 1-12.
Hoping that all made sense above.
Thank you kindly in advance

Great info. So excited for some downwind sailing!
If you cruise the bight of Eleuthera, Bahamas Air and others make it easy get back to Nassau flying from North Eleuthera, Governors Harbour, or Rock Sound.
The Exumas will then be a down wind sail.

I would recommend going to Spanish Wells for the 4 day trip including return. Cute little village, also great store for provisioning. Choice of mooring ball or marina, anchorages are not the best. For the next Exumas trip, work your way to Exuma Land and Sea Park, with stops along the way. Call the day before to reserve a mooring. Have your friends fly back from Staniel Cay or Black Point. Note, if west winds are predicted, the interior Park moorings get filled, and nobody leaves. Lee Haefele, Leopard 38, Alesto 2
