REPORT FROM A HOPE TOWN LOCAL:
Things are finally starting to look different in Hope Town.
It seems that many people who were on the fence about rebuilding have decided to do so, and the amount of activity is impressive.
There is still much to be done, but the clean up is nearly over, and the rebuilding well on its way.
The Abaco Inn looks great…like the hurricane never happened, and Firefly has rebuilt there outside bar and pier, so it is looking good.
The Hope Town Inn and Marina is totally refurbished and open…lots of boats int he slips and placed looks better than ever.
On Da Beach, Willies and Mackeys, round out the foot places, and all are doing good business.
All 3 grocery stores, Vernons, Harbour View and LVA are open but limited hours. Vernon is making bread daily.
Captain Jacks is being rebuilt and they hpe to reopen by the end of May.
The coffee shop is still closed and not sure if/when they are going to re open…same thing with the Harbour’s Edge.
There still aren’t a ton of houses for rent, but that should start to improve soon.
The bike shop and museum are open and the library and clinic have totally been rebuilt and look great.
There are some carts and boats for rent, but not a ton…that should steadily improve.
Lots of new landscaping planted, but still missing a ton of tall palm trees.
That is very accurate We stayed there in Marina in March and spirits are high and next season will be even better
