Greetings from Joe's Sound, some 4 miles south of Calabash Bay/Cape Santa Maria on Long Island.
A brand new, as of last week, "wash house" has opened on the mainland, in Glintons. Wash house is the local dialect term for a self-serve laundromat.
It is located on the King's Highway in the building that fronts the gas (and diesel) station. Also in the same building is a liquor store, ice machine, ice cream, and automotive supplies like WD40, oil, coolant, etc.
It is also walk-friendly/dingy ride accessible, particularlyif you are anchored inside Joe's Sound, off Hog Cay or the anchorage area noted on the Far Bahamas Explorer charts just north of the Joe's Sound waypoint.
Washers and dryers operate by quarters, about $6 per washing machine, which are household sized. The owner, Alfred, tells me he is looking to add a commercial-sized washer in the future.

An update on Joe's Sound, March 2025: Still excellent holding in deep sand from the cut NE for a couple hundred yards. Entering the cut be aware of a narrow, sand bump just inside. A 6' draft monohull entered late February by dog-legging to starboard to avoid the soft bar, then swung around to Port to anchor further up. Eight boats spread out comfortably as of 3/11/25 riding out the blustery 22+ knot nor'wester in flat calm conditions.
