Cruise Ship Facility Impacting Cruisers

MSC Cruises is developing a $450 million cruise terminal in Freeport, Grand Bahama, set to transform the area with a new pier, a 20-acre beach club, and upgraded retail areas. The project includes a $400 million investment in the Billy Key port area and $50 million for a new, large-scale multi-user terminal and beach facility.

 

Key Details of the New Grand Bahama Facilities:

·       MSC Cruises Freeport Terminal ($450M): This massive development at Freeport Harbour includes a new pier capable of handling the largest cruise ships, along with a visitor center, retail space, and a dedicated beach club, notes MSC Cruises.  The project aims to improve the passenger experience from the current industrial surroundings of the harbor.

NEW CRUISING FEE SCHEDULE

As of April 1, 2026, The Bahamas Customs and Immigration Department has published a new, extended list of cruising fees for yachtsmen coming to the Bahamas. Some of the fees remain the same while others are added or changed. In particular, note that they have added fee schedules for 30 days and 6 months in some cases, in addition to the original 12-month schedule. Also note that yachtsmen are now subject to extra charges for the Customs and Immigration officers transportation and weekend visits.

Temporary Cruising Permits for Pleasure Vessels

Regulation 91 of the principal Regulation is amended in the new bill, with changes to temporary cruising permit fees. The fees for pleasure vessels are as follows:
